AGLEAD Incubation Hub fosters creativity, innovation and agrientrepreneurship through experiential learning — empowering youth to build sustainable agrienterprises and drive economic growth across Africa.
Established in 2018 at Egerton University, Kenya, AGLEAD Incubation Hub was born from a critical need — to address Africa's growing youth unemployment crisis, often deepened by academic systems that produce job seekers rather than job creators.
We encourage, nurture and support innovative agribusiness ideas and turn them into sound commercial ventures. Through commercial loans, market access, capacity development, risk management and strategic networking, the Hub supports sustainable agribusiness SMEs across the value chain.
Since inception, AGLEAD has provided training to over 1,000 students and youth, extended loans to 30+ student/youth groups, and built powerful collaborative agreements with leading private agribusiness companies — creating a robust bridge between academic training and commercial success.
AGLEAD promotes creativity, innovation and agrientrepreneurship through experiential learning to enhance youth empowerment and job creation across Kenya and Africa.
To be a centre of excellence in agri-incubation through innovation, agri-entrepreneurship and climate smart agribusiness that transforms Africa's agricultural landscape.
We identify ideas that solve local problems, validate and refine them, then provide seed capital, mentorship and market linkages to grow thriving, bankable agrienterprises.
The Hub encourages students to identify business ideas that solve local problems — validating, refining and nurturing those ideas into commercial agrienterprises that contribute to job creation and promote national economic health through systematic agrienterprise incubation.
Stimulate establishment and growth of agrienterprises through business plan competitions, fund management programs and seed capital at low interest rates with revolving fund structures benefiting more students every cycle.
Improve agripreneurship skills among agricultural science students through structured training and mentorship from experienced industry professionals and successful entrepreneurs in the agribusiness sector.
Enhance collaboration between the university and the private sector through student challenges, agribusiness clinics and immersive enterprise visits that expose students to real commercial agribusiness operations.
From seed capital and mentorship to market access and agribusiness clinics, our integrated suite of programs takes an idea all the way from ideation to a thriving, bankable commercial enterprise.
We extend commercial loans to selected student groups at low interest rates. Repayments fuel a revolving fund — sustaining long-term impact and reaching more agripreneurs every year.
Structured training paired with one-on-one mentorship guides students through ideation, business modelling, financial management and enterprise development from concept to commercialisation.
We broker collaborative agreements with leading agribusiness companies to connect students with market access, off-take arrangements and effective transition support into the private sector.
Annual competitions challenge students to develop bankable agribusiness proposals. Winners receive seed funding, incubation support and direct introductions to industry partners.
Regular clinics connect students with industry experts to diagnose enterprise challenges, resolve operational pain points and accelerate business growth in real time.
We equip agripreneurs with risk assessment and mitigation strategies to build resilient enterprises that withstand market volatility, climate shocks and sector disruptions.
Since 2018, AGLEAD has made a measurable difference in the lives of hundreds of young people across Kenya. By combining financial support with training, mentorship and industry connections, the Hub has helped students move from the classroom to the marketplace.
The Hub has enabled students to create gainful employment, generate sustainable income and bridge the succession gap in agribusiness and related value chains — contributions AGLEAD actively grows and sustains year on year.
Through collaborative agreements with leading private agribusiness companies, AGLEAD continues to strengthen the bridge between academic training and commercial practice, creating a robust pipeline of market-ready agripreneurs.

AGLEAD launched at Egerton University to address youth unemployment through agripreneurship incubation and education.
Seed capital loans extended to the first student groups, launching the revolving fund model that continues multiplying impact today.
Collaborative agreements signed with leading private agribusiness companies enabling structured market access and industry mentorship.
The Hub surpassed 1,000 students and youth supported through training, mentorship and financial programs — a landmark achievement.
Continued expansion with 76 direct loan beneficiaries across 30+ student/youth groups and a growing network of successful agripreneurs.
AGLEAD gave me more than a loan — it gave me the confidence, skills and connections to build a thriving poultry enterprise that now employs three other young people in my community.
The business plan competition changed everything. Mentors challenged me to think commercially, not just academically. Today our horticulture cooperative supplies two supermarket chains in Nakuru.
I came to Egerton to study agriculture, but AGLEAD taught me agripreneurship. The agribusiness clinics opened my eyes to market realities I would never have learned in a lecture hall alone.
